Fun in the Sun...

Today we spent the afternoon at the splash pad with Kelse and the kids.  Her kids did great getting in the water, but mine were most comfortable on the outer rims of the splash pad.  Their not into the splash concept so much. Oh well they had to have had a good time because they were both out by the time we got home.

15 months...

Today Connor had his 15 month check up.  Where is the time going?? He is the cutest boy ever! He doesn't say too many words.  He will shake his head no and usually grunt and point to the things that he wants.  He loves anything with an engine.  He will stop whatever he is doing and look for the airplane in the sky or whatever is driving by.  He is all boy! You can imagine how much Nic loves this.  He loves to play in the dirt, sand and water.  He says mom, up, and uh-oh and will growl for lions and make engine noises for trucks, and like I said before grunts to everything else.  He has been walking for a couple of weeks now and it of course is  the cutest thing ever! He copies every move that Payton makes, right down to the tantrums.  They sure do love each other.... most of the time.
Height: 32.5 in. 80%
Weight: 24.11 lbs. 50%
Head Circumference: 49.3 cm 95%
At this appointment the doctor did confirm that Connor has a hernia and if it doesn't change from now to his 18 month appointment we will need to be referred.

Montgomery Camp...

Thursday morning we left on a Montgomery Family camping trip down to Bryce Canyon. We had such a great time with everyone.  On the first day we went into the park and drove to the scenic over looks and saw all of the beautiful red rock formations. The second day we went on a hike in the morning and the afternoon we spent getting dirty four wheeling.  I don't think any of us have ever been that dirty... especially Grandma! Since there hasn't been any rain all of the trails were just inches of loose dirt.  My pictures don't do justice. I rode on the four wheeler with Grandma on the back and I don't think she will do that again.  At one point she asked me how fast we were going and I told her 35, she then responded that it felt like we were going 150.  Poor Grandma I probably gave her a heart attack. The next day we headed down the long dirt roads to see an Arch and hike some slot canyons.  We had hiked a mile to get to the slot canyon and had just started dropping into it.  The younger ones did it with ease then it was Joni's turn.  When she was trying to get down she slipped and fell and all we heard from up above was "$%&* it's broke."  I as did my parents thought she was meaning her camera but we quickly found out it was her ankle.  A little bit of panic set in as we wondered how we would get her out.  Thank goodness we were all together.  Megan used her skills and made her a splint with a shirt and sticks and then the boys and men hoisted her out with a rope that my dad had thankfully packed. Once we got her out there was still a mile hike back to the cars.  She was treated like royalty as the boys picked her up and carried or supported her the whole way back.  We made it back to camp and all of us kid's went swimming in the pool that was at the camp while the parents hung out with Joni with her foot in a cooler.  We left the campground around 7 to head home.  It was a very long drive especially because I was the driver since my mom and dad were passed out along with the kids'.  But we did make it home safely and the verdict on Joni's foot is that the ligaments are strained and she is in a boot for 3 weeks.
I was so glad we were able to go on this trip it was so much fun being surrounded by family.  I hope to continue this as a yearly tradition.

As of Late...

Friday night we went to the drive-in with Cameron and Cecelia and watched Madagascar 3.  I love those shows and think they are so cute! Afterwards was Dark Shadows which is one that I won't recommend to anyone.  Even though I didn't catch what was going on because I fell asleep through the majority of it what I did see was really weird. But we had a great time snuggling in the back of the truck as a family!

Sunday of course was Father's Day.  I made Nic his breakfast and then we were rushing to get ready for church.  We are back to 9 so we don't have as much time to lollygag anymore. At the start of Relief Society I could tell that I was starting to get a migraine.  The teacher started to disappear and I couldn't read the words in the hymn book.  I stuck it out for the rest of church, but when we got home I was hit pretty hard.  I kept nothing down and felt so weak.  Poor Nic ended up taking care of me rather then me taking care of him on Father's Day.

For Father's Day Maddie got dad a camera to skype with.  My parents absolutely loved it as did we!
Yesterday I couldn't take the heat any longer so we ran over to Walmart and bought a little pool to play in.  It was so nice and refreshing.  Soon we were joined by Aaron and Tawna's kids

I think I have the sweetest husband around.  Especially as of late.  Last night I had two late soccer games so Nic killed some time by making a cake.  Well when I looked at it this morning he had written I ♥ U BABE! It's little things like that that make me appreciate my man more! What a stud!!

Date Night...

Is by far one of my favorite activities to do with Nic.  Last night we took the kids over to my parents house so that we could enjoy a night at the Logan Temple.  It was absolutely beautiful! There is no better place to be especially with Nic by my side!

Of course we had to eat dinner at Fire House Pizza.  As mentioned before one of my favorite places!!

Thank you for such a great night babe! I enjoyed our conversations we had together!

Strawberry Jam...

Nic went riding today so of course today the kids decided to wake up early.  We had eaten breakfast and gotten dressed by 7:30.  I have no idea what time they were up at but that is way too early especially on a Saturday!!! So to try to kill some time today I picked some strawberries and  made some jam.  But now here we are at 1 and I am in no mood to do anything else.

Maybe I will take a nap with the kids!!!

Heartbroken...

What has this world come to? I am so sick to my stomach with everything that is going on around me. A few months ago one of my friends announced that she was getting a divorce because her husband wasn't interested in her but rather interested in the same sex. I feel so bad for her and the struggles she is going through and I feel even more horribly about the way she is handling it.  Today another friend announced she was also getting a divorce and once again my heart breaks.  But not nearly as much as my heart broke a few minutes ago when a very close friend.  One who I have admired for years came out and said he was gay. I am sick. I am mad. I am sad.  I am devastated. And I feel like a friend just died. I don't know how to handle this.  And how he can be ok with it all especially after all that he has been taught.  This completely blindsided me I would have never guessed especially with how strong of a testimony I know that he has.  It hurts me to know that he is giving everything up because of this choice he is making. It hurts to feel like I don't know him anymore and I don't want to hear his excuses.  I truly pray that he will get help.  And I hope and pray that are group of friends will pull together to get him out of this slump.

Splash Pad, Camping, and Fishing...

On Memorial Day Weekend the new Harrisville splash pad opened up.  Since my mom is now home for the summer we are doing our weekly picnics so we decided to start off at the splash pad.  Payton took a little while to warm up to it but by the time we were ready to leave she was running in and out of it.  It didn't take Connor long at all.  He went right to it and had fun playing in the water.  He had a bunch of mom's laughing at him because he kept chattering his teeth.  It was pretty cute.
Nic had work off on Friday so we planned to go camping.  Nic and I have a secret sweet camping spot.  But when we got to it we realized it wasn't the best idea with the kids because you have to hike to it and carrying all of our stuff didn't seem appealing to either of us.  So we made our way to the Preston Valley Campground where we enjoyed it pretty much all to ourselves! We were very pleased with it and it actually had a bathroom so that was a bonus.
We made up camp then roasted some smores.  The kids were so excited to all be sleeping together in a tent.  Connor was a little too excited.  He was climbing, falling, and crawling all over the place.  Finally I got him calmed down and he was out and didn't wake until the morning.  Then mom and dad were the jungle gym all over again.
Friday we spent the day up in Bear Lake.  In my mind I figured we would spend a lovely day on the beach.  It wasn't until we came out of the canyon and saw are first sighting of Bear Lake that I thought about it being full.  And sure enough it was very full.  We made our way to the Rendezvous beach where there was some sand.  Good thing because Payton couldn't stop talking about the beach. -she is definitely my girl- We had fun playing on the beach, walking in the water, building a sand castle and having a picnic.  After we ate we made our way back into town and went for a bike ride and finished up with famous Bear Lake Shakes.  The rest of the day was spent playing games at our campground and going on walks.  Perfection. Friday night went the same way the kids slept like rocks through the night and were bright eyed and ready for the day at 7 in the morning.  It was sprinkling on us so we decided to pack up camp and head home before it got everything too wet.
I had such a fun weekend camping and I know the kid's loved it too.  I can't wait to go again soon! When we got home we decided to go fishing.  Usually the expression "Everything is so much more fun with kids" is a term I use.... But not so much with fishing.  I can't tell you how many times I had to tell Payton and Connor to not throw rocks in the water.  Oh well kids will be kids.  It was still a lot of fun and we did catch several fish, nothing over 4 inches but its the experience of it that makes it fun.  Payton even caught a fish all by herself.  We were later joined by Nic's parents and enjoyed some time with them fishing and then going to Zeppe's to finish out the night.  It was such a fun weekend and I am so glad that summer is here!!!
